A Guesthouse With Tradition

The Lodge

In earlier times, the small coastal town Sorake was called Jamburae and the first guesthouse, a simple bamboo hut, was built exactly where Jamburae Lodge is today. With Jamburae Lodge, we keep alive this long tradition of welcoming guests.

The house was newly renovated in 2016. The upper floor is equipped with 5 guest rooms and a big terrace with a magnificent view over the whole bay and the surf spot.

The Owner

Site Wau

Hi! I'm Site, a passionate surfer and a Nias local. I grew up surfing on one of the worlds most famous waves.

To make the dream of my own guesthouse come true I worked on surf charter boats on the Mentawai Islands and as a surf instructor in Bali. I also spent four years in Switzerland, working as a landscape gardener and bicycle courier.

From my experiences, I learned many useful skills for the guesthouse and my garden like planning and implementing the expansion of the lodge, growing plants, vegetables, and fruits, designing and creating furniture for the guestrooms or speaking English and German fluently.

Sharing my little universe and my knowledge about Nias and surfing with my guests and making them have a great time in Nias is my biggest motivation for Jamburae Lodge.
